Pub Owners. Let's talk about Capital Allowances.

Steve has owned the Cross Keys in Surrey since 2006. He’s been through a recession in the pub trade before but nothing like this one. Back then he hadn’t had to shut his doors one day, not open them the next and send his staff home.

He’d never heard of capital allowances until he heard from us. Our surveyor found £232,500 of unclaimed allowances in his pub. Steve owns the property in his own name so he received a Net Benefit of £87,885.

He was worried about how he was going to keep his business going until he could open his doors again in July. Now he knows that there is money coming in he can start to plan how to get back on his feet.

Does this sound, feel, and look familiar to you?

Yes, like you wouldn’t believe but, what are Capital Allowances? Capital Allowances are a tax relief designed to incentivise business owners like you to improve their properties. For each item or fixture, you add to your property that has an “enduring benefit” to your business you can get an allowance to put against your tax bill. You will get the benefit in the form of a tax refund or relief to reduce future tax bills.

That makes sense; what kind of things can I claim for? Bar Counters and Bar Equipment, Beverage Dispensers, Book Cases, Burglar Alarms, Cable TV, Cameras, Carpets, Chillers, Coffee Machines, Cold Stores, Cookers and Ovens, Couches, Curtains…that’s just the B’s and C’s.

OK, I’m interested. What do you get out of it? We charge a small percentage of the allowances that we uncover for you. You pay nothing upfront and you only pay if we succeed in finding unclaimed allowances for you.
